Introduction

National Standard of the People's Republic of China GB/T 14211—2019

Mechanical seal test method is an important technical standard in the field of mechanical equipment, which is used to evaluate and test the performance of mechanical seal products. This article will deeply interpret the main contents and technical requirements of the standard.

Background of Standard Formulation and Analysis of Technical Evolution

GB/T 14211—2019 replaces the old version GB/T 14211—2010, and is mainly optimized in the following aspects:

  • Add normative reference documents: GB/T 33509 and JB/T 11289 are added to ensure the scientificity and authority of the standard.
  • Introduction of airtightness test: New airtightness test requirements are added to the factory test to strengthen the sealing performance detection.
  • Refine test classification: subdivide test methods according to sealing arrangement and conveying medium type.

Comparative analysis of standard frameworks

Project dimensions GB/T 14211—2019 GB/T 14211—2010
Test classification Subdivided by sealing arrangement and medium Not clearly divided
Airtightness test requirements New mandatory inspection items No relevant requirements
Test medium types Clearly divided according to Table 1 and Table 2 Only some media are mentioned

Interpretation of mechanical seal test methods

1. Factory test requirements

Factory test is a key link to ensure product qualification, mainly including:

  • Air tightness test: Use nitrogen or air at room temperature, pressure 0.17 MPa, maintain pressure for 5 minutes, and the pressure drop does not exceed 0.014 MPa.
  • Static pressure test: The medium pressure is 1.25 times the maximum allowable working pressure, and the leakage and temperature changes are recorded.
  • Dynamic test: Simulate actual operating conditions, run continuously for 5 hours, and test leakage and power consumption.

2. Type test requirements

Type test is to evaluate the performance of mechanical seals under specific media and working conditions, including:

  • Dynamic test: Continuous operation for 100 hours, recording key parameters.
  • Static test: Maintain for 4 hours, test leakage and temperature change.
  • Start-stop test: Complete 5 start-stop operations to evaluate the stability of the seal.

Implementation suggestions and precautions

To ensure the accuracy and reliability of mechanical seal testing, it is recommended to:

  • Strictly select test media and isolation fluids in accordance with standard requirements.
  • Use calibrated instruments and ensure that the accuracy meets the requirements.
  • The test device should have good voltage stabilization and temperature control performance.
  • Record the test data in detail and keep the test report properly.
