I. Background of Standard Formulation
As important agricultural inputs, pesticides play a key role in preventing and controlling pests and diseases and ensuring food security. III. Interpretation of experimental methods
1. Selection and management of experimental animals
Healthy adult SD rats or Wistar rats were selected for the experiment, and the weight variation range was ±20% of the average weight of the same sex. Adaptive feeding is required for at least 3 days before the experiment, and the experiment is carried out in the environment specified in GB14925.
2. Dose design and administration method
The dose range of the formal test is determined through preliminary tests, usually with 4-5 dose groups. The exposure volume does not exceed 1mL/100g body weight. If the volume is too large, it can be given in divided doses.
3. Observation and Recording
After exposure, the poisoning symptoms and deaths of animals should be closely observed, and the reaction time and severity should be recorded. Surviving animals should be humanely killed and autopsied at the end of the experiment.
Implementation Recommendations
- Strictly select experimental animals and dosage design according to the standards to ensure the accuracy of the test results.
- For pesticides with lower toxicity, a simplified method with a one-time limit of 5000mg/kg body weight can be used.
- It is recommended to use the Bliss method to calculate the LD50 value, which does not require equidistant dose groups and has higher accuracy.
