《GB/T 15696-1995信息处理系统 开放系统互连 面向连接的表示协议规范》由TC28（全国信息技术标准化技术委员会）归口，主管部门为国家标准化管理委员会。
本标准规定 a.用于由一个表示实体到一个对等表示实体传送数据或控制住处的规程；b.借助功能单选择表示实体要用的规程的手段；c.用于传送数据和控制信息的表示协议数据单的结构与编码。

Scope

Note: The use and implementation of this standard requires the ASN.1 and OBJECTIDENTIFIER types to expose assignments to abstract syntax and transfer syntax specifications. Public specifications and nomenclature for Abstract Syntax and Transfer Syntax may appear in ISO Standards or CCITT Recommendations, or in organizations identified by the Registration Authority Process, whose specification is under development. This standard specifies a. Procedures for transferring data or control information from a presentation entity to a peer presentation entity; b. Means for selecting procedures to be used by presentation entities by means of functional units; c. Procedures for transmitting data and control information Indicates the structure and encoding of the protocol data unit. The following three procedures are defined: d. Interactions between peer presentation entities by exchanging presentation protocol data units; e. Interactions between presentation entities and presentation service users in the same system by exchanging presentation service primitives interaction. f. The interaction between the presentation entity and the session service provider by exchanging session service primitives. These procedures are defined in the main body of this standard, supplemented by the status tables in Appendix A (supplement). These procedures are applicable in the instance of communication between systems that support the presentation layer of the OSI reference model and wish to interconnect within the OSI environment. This International Standard specifies conformance criteria for systems implementing these procedures, but does not include tests that may be used to demonstrate such conformance.
