Introduction

Interpretation of the core content of the standard

This standard specifies the test method for the bonding strength between the cover layer and the core layer of steel cord conveyor belts, and is applicable to the quality inspection of various types of steel cord conveyor belt products.

Key technical changes

Technical elements GB/T17044-2013 GB/T17044-2020
Cited standards ISO18573 is not cited New ISO18573 environmental adjustment requirements
Specimen size Minimum value is not specified Minimum length of 150mm is specified
Test steps Single group test Two groups of tests for upper and lower covering layers

Details of the test method

Sample preparation requirements

1. Conveyor belt without transverse parts: length ≥150mm, width ≥25mm and containing ≥2 steel ropes

2. Conveyor belt with metal transverse parts: width strictly controlled at (25±0.5)mm

3. The cutting part should be ≥50mm away from the belt edge, and the covering layer needs to be peeled off in advance to form a clamping section

Implementation points

Environmental control: The state must be adjusted according to ISO18573 environment B conditions ((23±2)℃, (50±5)%RH)

Test process:

  • The test is divided into two groups: the upper and lower covering layers, with 3 specimens in each group
  • The peeling speed is strictly controlled at (100±10)mm/min
  • When the bonding strength is greater than the tear strength of the core, the maximum force value must be recorded

Result calculation specification

Adhesion strength calculation formula: T=F/b (F is the median peel force, b is the specimen width)

The final result should be rounded to an accuracy of 0.1N/mm

Background of standard evolution

This standard was first published in 1997. The 2020 version mainly achieves technical equivalence with ISO8094:2013, reflecting:

  1. Localized adaptation of international standards
  2. Refined improvement of test methods
  3. Improved comparability of test data
