Introduction
GB/T 17469—2024 Standard Overview
GB/T 17469—2024 "Small Sample Bench Test Method for Evaluation of Friction Performance of Automobile Brake Linings" is an important standard for automobile brake system testing, which is used to evaluate the friction performance of automobile disc and drum brake linings. Compared with the old version, the new version of the standard has important updates in terms of terminology, test equipment and process.
Comparison of standard frameworks
| Standard dimensions | GB/T 17469—2012 | GB/T 17469—2024 |
|---|---|---|
| Definition of terms | Not clearly specified | New chapters on terms and definitions |
| Test equipment | The testing machine has a simple structure | Updated to a more accurate and multifunctional testing system |
| Test preparation | The process is relatively simplified | New requirements for specimen preparation and brake drum surface treatment |
Explanation of professional terms
Case analysis: Determination of friction coefficient level
The friction coefficient is a key indicator for measuring brake performance. For example, when the friction coefficient of a batch of linings is 0.32 at room temperature and 0.40 at high temperature, its friction coefficient level should be marked as EF level according to the classification code in Table 3.
Implementation suggestions
- Test equipment selection - Ensure that the test machine meets the standard requirements, including temperature control accuracy and friction force measurement accuracy. - The brake drum material must meet the chemical composition (such as carbon content ≤3.50%) and Brinell hardness (HBW 179~229).
- Test preparation details - When preparing the sample, pay attention to the uniformity of the sampling position and the precise control of the size. - The brake drum surface treatment needs to be polished before each test and cleaned with clean dry air.
- Data Recording and Analysis - Record the friction coefficient and temperature data strictly in accordance with the standard requirements. - Use the tables and graphs in Appendix A for data analysis to ensure the accuracy of the results.
