由于光源与线路的不同部件连成一体，使得现代照明设备和装置变得更为复杂，这种情况会导致对试验方法的解释产生混淆。在这些特殊的照明产品中，有许多是需要使用镇流器才能正常工作的放电光源。 下面给出了这种类型的组合体的概述，包括定义和一些示例，可以作为解释现代新产品的导则。

Scope

The fact that modern lighting equipment and fixtures have become more complex due to the integration of light sources into different parts of the circuit can lead to confusion in the interpretation of the test method. Many of these specialty lighting products are discharge light sources that require ballasts to function properly. Some components, which may have been separate components in traditional lighting systems, are now combined with other components in the same housing. Clearly, there needs to be agreement on terminology and definitions for lamp/ballast/starter combinations in order to ensure a correct and consistent view of the combination among inspection agencies and regulators. An overview of this type of composition is given below, including definitions and some examples, which can serve as guidelines for interpreting modern new products. The examples given do not necessarily imply that they have been standardized.
