Introduction
GB/T 20738-2018 Standard Overview
GB/T 20738-2018 "Rooftop Air Conditioning Units" is a technical specification for centralized air supply air conditioning equipment installed on roofs. The standard revised the 2006 version, added definitions and requirements such as the comprehensive partial load performance coefficient of refrigeration and the annual performance coefficient, and optimized the test methods and inspection rules.
Comparison of standard frameworks
| Dimensions | Requirements of the 2006 version | Updates to the 2018 version |
|---|---|---|
| Terms and definitions | Basically covers major equipment | Newly added terms such as refrigeration comprehensive part load performance coefficient |
| Technical requirements | Seasonal energy efficiency ratio for cooling is not clarified | Requirements for seasonal energy efficiency ratio for cooling and annual performance coefficient are added |
| Test methods | Test equipment is not fully standardized | Introduction of GB/T 18836-2017 revised method |
Explanation of professional terms and practical applications
Cooling integrated part load performance coefficient (IPLV): measures the cooling efficiency of the air conditioner under partial load. For example, in the GB/T 17758-2014 standard, the IPLV value is calculated by the method in Appendix B to evaluate the energy efficiency performance of the unit.
Annual performance factor (APF): comprehensively considers the total efficiency of the air conditioner in the heating and cooling seasons. In practical applications, the higher the APF value, the better the energy utilization efficiency of the unit, which is suitable for cold regions.
Implementation suggestions
- Choose an air conditioner that meets the requirements of the standard and ensure that the nameplate parameters clearly mark key indicators such as cooling capacity and energy efficiency ratio.
- Strictly follow the manufacturer's instructions for installation, and pay special attention to the fence and waterproofing to prevent damage to the roof structure.
- Regularly check vibration, leakage and condensation, and perform maintenance and adjustment when necessary to ensure long-term stable operation of the unit.
