1 Scope

This standard specifies the test methods for macrostructure and defect of steel by hot acid etching, cold acid etching (including dendritic crystal etching) and electrolytic etching.

This standard is applicable to the acid etching test for the macrostructure and defect of steel. The acid etching test for other materials may be implemented by reference to this standard.
