Introduction

1. Standard background and scope of application

GB/T 22638.7—2016 is Part 7 of the "Aluminum Foil Test Methods", which mainly specifies the determination method of heat seal strength of aluminum foil for blister packaging. The standard is applicable to the determination of heat seal strength of aluminum foil adhesive layer for blister packaging made by bonding aluminum foil with hard sheets such as polyvinyl chloride (PVC) or polyvinylidene chloride (PVDC).

2. Comparison of standard frameworks

Standard dimensions Old version (GB/T 22638.7—2008) New version (GB/T 22638.7—2016)
Scope of application Solid medicines (tablets, capsules, etc.) Aluminum foil for blister packaging
Reagents and materials Normative references are not clearly listed Normative references are added, and specific requirements for heat sealing adhesives, PVC and PVDC rigid sheets are clarified
Equipment requirements The accuracy of the test cutter is not specified The accuracy requirement of the tensile tester is added (level 1 or better)

3. Implementation suggestions and precautions

Implementation suggestions:

  1. Ensure that the test equipment (such as tensile tester, heat sealer) meets the standard requirements and is calibrated regularly.
  2. Operators need to receive professional training and be familiar with the principles and steps of heat seal strength measurement.
  3. Prepare the specimens strictly in accordance with the standard requirements to ensure that the glue is evenly coated and free of contamination.
  4. Record the test conditions (such as temperature, pressure) and environmental factors (room temperature, humidity) to trace the causes of the difference in results.

Notes:

  • During the heat sealing process, the sample should be kept away from moisture. It is recommended to operate in a dry environment.
  • When recording the peeling load, pay attention to the unit conversion and numerical rounding rules (GB/T 8170).
  • For aluminum foil rolls produced in large quantities, it is recommended to draw enough samples for testing according to the standard requirements.
