Introduction

Interpretation of the core content of the standard

This standard specifies the method for determining the ability of toilet paper and its products to resist mechanical penetration in a wet state. The technical points include:

Key indicators Definition Unit Test conditions
Wet spherical bursting strength (FW) The maximum vertical force value that the sample can withstand after being wetted mN 125mm/min speed
Burst index (XW) FW to quantitative ratio mN·m²/g Standard atmospheric conditions
Retention rate (WR) Wet/dry burst strength ratio % Comparison of the same sample

Technology evolution analysis

Compared with ISO12625-11:2012, this standard has the following major adjustments:

  • Delete the reference to ISO7500-1 on force measurement system calibration in the international standard and adopt the domestic general method
  • Simplify the definition of terms to be more in line with the Chinese context (such as translating "ball burst strength" into "ball burst strength")
  • Add a graphic illustration of the pneumatic clamping system to improve operability

Implementation suggestions

Case: The test result of a certain brand of kitchen paper towels showed FW=3783mN. After calculation, XW=12.4mN·m²/g and WR=82%, indicating that the product:

  1. Maintains high mechanical strength in wet state
  2. The addition of wet strength agent has a significant effect
  3. Meets the requirements of GB/T24328.9 for superior products

Notes:

  • Before testing, it is necessary to soak with deionized water with conductivity≤0.25mS/m
  • It is recommended to conduct accelerated aging treatment at (80±2)℃/30min for new production samples
  • The rubber hardness of the clamping ring should be controlled within the range of 70-85IRHD
