Scope
This standard specifies the service behavior of dynamically generating maps with spatial reference from geographic information. It specifies the various operations required to obtain the map from the server, including the operations of obtaining the description information of the map, obtaining the map and querying the feature information on the map, etc. This standard applies to obtaining pictorial representations of maps in graphic format, but not to obtaining actual feature data or coverage basis.
