Scope
Important Note: The implementation of this standard requires special care. The hydrogen embrittlement or the tip of the rod can fail abruptly, forming a flying projectile that can cause blindness or other serious injury. This hazard may occur after the test has been carried out for up to 200h, and shelters or other means should be provided to avoid such injuries. This standard specifies the methods for determining the following probability of hydrogen embrittlement or hydrogen damage on the basis of statistics: a) threaded parts with barrel plating, electroless plating, phosphating or chemical treatment in batches; b) threaded parts or screws with rack plating. This standard applies to steel threaded parts or screws and surface-hardened threaded parts or screws with tensile strength ≥ 1000MPa (corresponding hardness: 300HV, 303HB or 31HRC). Not suitable for fastener clasps. This method is carried out after heat treatment to remove hydrogen embrittlement. This method can also be used to evaluate differences between treatment solutions, conditions of use, and techniques. This test method has two main functions: a) it can be used to determine batch acceptance or rejection when using statistical sampling methods; b) it can be used as a control test to determine the effective various processing steps Hydrogen concentration before and after heat treatment. Although this test method can determine the degree of hydrogen embrittlement of the part, it cannot ensure the complete absence of hydrogen embrittlement. This standard does not exempt the plater, craftsman, or producer from implementing and monitoring appropriate process controls.
