Scope

This International Standard specifies a systematic approach to the inspection of proficiency testing results and the analysis of unsatisfactory proficiency testing results, including the types of problems that may occur. This standard applies to laboratories engaged in medical testing (including point-of-care testing), and helps medical laboratories use proficiency testing results (including satisfactory and unsatisfactory) to improve laboratory quality management. This International Standard gives guidance for proficiency testing providers on the analysis of proficiency testing reports and the interpretation of results. This standard gives guidelines for the proficiency testing of medical laboratories by regulatory agencies and accreditation bodies, including the evaluation of results, the analysis of the impact of unsatisfactory results and the root causes of occurrence, and the development of remedial and corrective measures.
