Scope

This standard specifies the essential characteristics of alternating current (ac) generators for generating sets under the control of their voltage regulators. It supplements the requirements of IEC 34-1. Note: There is currently no international standard applicable to asynchronous generators. When this international standard is released, this standard will be revised accordingly. See 12.2. This standard applies to ac generators for ac generating sets powered by land and marine reciprocating internal combustion (RIC) engines, and does not apply to aeronautical or power generating sets for land vehicles and locomotives.
