This standard specifies the method for the determination of free glycerol content in fatty acid methyl esters (FAME) with a DC fraction ranging from 0.005% to 0.07% by gas chromatography. 2. This standard is suitable for evaluating the quality of fatty acid methyl esters of pure biodiesel. Glycerin is a by-product of the transesterification reaction, and its concentration can affect the performance of the fuel.
