Scope

This standard applies to high-voltage AC switchgear and control equipment for inductive load current switching in systems installed indoors or outdoors, operating at a frequency of 50 Hz, and with a voltage of 3 000 V and above. This standard does not consider switching the no-load transformer, that is, breaking the excitation current of the transformer. The reasons are as follows: a) Due to the nonlinearity of the transformer core, it is impossible to use linear elements to correctly model the excitation current of the switching transformer in the laboratory. Tests carried out with available transformers (e.g. test transformers) are only valid for the transformer under test and are not representative of other transformers; b) as described in IEC 62271-306, the characteristics of this method are generally higher than those of other inductive current switching The method is not harsh. Considering the possible re-ignition of the circuit breaker and the resonant frequency of the transformer winding, it should be noted that this method may generate serious overvoltage in the transformer winding. Proximity faults, out-of-step current making and breaking, and capacitive current switching are not suitable for circuit breakers used to open shunting reactors and motors. Therefore, these methods are not included in this standard. Unless otherwise specified, 1.1 of GB 1984-2003 applies.
