Introduction
Core changes in the standard revision
| Technical dimension | GB/T29503-2013 | GB/T29503-2020 | Impact of changes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Alloy grade | 5 types including 2017/7A04 | 8 types including 2D12/7055 | Expand the scope of applicable materials for aerospace |
| Hydrogen content control | Not specified | New liquid/solid hydrogen measurement requirements | Improve material metallurgical quality |
| Fracture toughness | 3 indicators | New LT/TL/SL three-dimensional tests | Improve crack growth resistance evaluation |
Detailed explanation of key performance indicators
Performance comparison of typical grades
7050T7451 plate has a longitudinal fracture toughness KIC requirement of ≥25.0 MPa·m1/2 in the thickness range of 152-178mm, which is 12% higher than the 2013 version. The newly added 7055T7751 has a compressive yield strength of 593MPa in the thickness range of 12-38mm, making it suitable for high-load structural parts.
Implementation suggestions
- The stress corrosion sensitivity factor (SCF) requirements of 7xxx series alloys should be clearly marked when purchasing materials
- Fractograph inspection must be carried out on plates with a thickness of >25mm
- In the design of new models, priority should be given to newly added high-strength corrosion-resistant alloys such as 2D70/7A85
Technology evolution analysis
This standard reflects three development directions of aluminum alloy materials: 1) Improving metallurgical quality by controlling hydrogen content; 2) Introducing a three-dimensional fracture toughness evaluation system; 3) Strengthening environmental adaptability indicators (newly added corrosion test methods in Appendix B/C). The conductivity requirement of 7475T7351 is increased to ≥23.2MS/m, corresponding to 40%IACS, meeting the electromagnetic compatibility requirements of the new generation of aircraft.
