Scope

This standard specifies the requirements and test methods for quick release devices worn by the crew in the afloat condition and which form part of the davit system of sailboats. The release device is used to quickly release the user and reduce the risk of drowning when the sailboat hanger system fails to be released by other means. The quick release is easy to access and operate in all possible situations, including if the dinghy capsizes or turns upside down.
