Scope

This standard specifies the classification, main characteristics, structure, test and other technical requirements of aluminum wire connectors for clamps of any material and copper wire connectors for aluminum-based clamps. This standard applies to connectors of threaded and threadless clamps of any material as independent units or components integral to the product, designed to connect unprocessed aluminum wires (bare aluminum or electroplated aluminum) and copper-clad aluminum wires (in accordance with GB/T 3956-2008), with a cross-sectional area of 2.5 mm² to 50 mm² (including 50 mm²) or hard wires (single core or stranded) of corresponding AWG wire gauge size, with a rated AC voltage not exceeding 1000 V, a frequency not exceeding 1000 Hz, and a rated DC voltage not exceeding 1500 V. This standard also applies to aluminum-based clamps that connect hard copper wires (single core or stranded) and soft copper wires (in accordance with GB/T 3956), with a cross-sectional area ranging from 0.5 mm² to 35 mm² (including 35 mm²) or corresponding AWG wires. This standard contains the minimum requirements for clamps suitable for connecting conductors. This standard does not apply to the following clamps: a) Clamps that use crimping, brazing, soldering, or soldering to make connections; b) Clamps for digital or signal circuits; c) "Flat quick-connect terminals, insulation piercing connectors, and pinch connectors", etc. The requirements for these clamps will be considered in a separate section. NOTE: Soft aluminum conductors are not within the scope of this standard. These conductors will be considered as they develop.
