Standard Overview and Technical Background
GB/T 32963-2016 is my country's first special national standard for zinc-aluminum alloy coated steel wire cables, jointly drafted by Jiangsu Fasten Cable Co., Ltd. and other units. This standard fills the gap in the standard application of zinc-5% aluminum-mixed rare earth alloy coating technology in bridge cables, reflecting the technical demand for high-performance cables in my country's large-span bridge construction.

In-depth analysis of material properties
The standard requires that zinc-aluminum alloy coated steel wire must use sorbitized wire rods with sulfur and phosphorus content ≤0.025%. The unit mass of the coating is ≥300g/m², and no copper is hung after the copper sulfate test (4 times × 60s). Typical application case: The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge cable-stayed cable adopts the standard 187 wire specification to achieve 50 years of maintenance-free protection.
Structural innovation and process control
Prefabricated parallel strands are arranged in a regular hexagonal pattern, with the positioning accuracy of the marker wire and the standard wire reaching 1/15000; Hot-extruded polyethylene cable requires a twist angle of (3±0.5)°, and a double-layer HDPE sheath is formed in one step. The anchor is made of 42CrMo alloy steel, and the compressive strength of the cold-cast anchoring filler is ≥147MPa.
Implementation suggestions and engineering applications
- Strictly control the uniformity of the coating. It is recommended to use an inductively coupled plasma spectrometer (ICP) to sample the aluminum content
- Cable strand pre-tensioning should adopt graded loading (0.1Pb per grade), and the loading speed should be controlled ≤100MPa/min
- It is recommended to establish a data archive for the entire life cycle of the cable, recording key parameters such as initial elastic modulus and relaxation rate
