Background of Standard Formulation and Analysis of Technical Evolution

This standard is formulated based on the technical development needs of meteorological instruments and observation methods, and aims to standardize the laboratory test methods of cup anemometers. In recent years, with the advancement of meteorological observation technology, the accuracy requirements for wind speed and wind direction measurement have been continuously improved, and this standard has come into being.

The wind cup starting wind speed refers to the minimum wind speed required for the wind cup to start continuous rotation from a stationary state. In a laboratory environment, this indicator can be accurately measured through wind tunnel testing. For example, in the GB/T 33691-2017 standard, it is required to increase the wind speed step by step by 0.1 m/s, observe the starting state of the wind cup, and record the corresponding standard wind speed value.
