Introduction
GB/T 34253—2017 Standard Overview
GB/T 34253—2017 "Test Method for Adaptability of Daily-use Ceramics from Refrigerator to Microwave and Oven" specifies the test method for adaptability of daily-use ceramics to be directly placed in microwave ovens and ovens for heating after being frozen. This standard aims to evaluate the performance of ceramics under extreme temperature changes and ensure their safety in home use.
Background of Standard Formulation and Analysis of Technical Evolution
With the popularity of modern kitchen appliances, daily-use ceramics often need to come into contact with refrigerators, microwave ovens and ovens in daily use. In order to ensure the safety and durability of ceramics in these environments, the China Light Industry Federation proposed this standard. Its technical requirements are based on common problems in actual applications and refer to relevant testing methods at home and abroad.
Core instruments and equipment
The following are the main instruments and equipment mentioned in the standard and their specifications:
| Instrument name | Technical requirements |
|---|---|
| Freezer | Temperature control accuracy: ±3°C, minimum temperature ≤-8°C |
| Microwave oven | Output power ≥600W |
| Oven | Heating speed ≤15 minutes, temperature control accuracy ±5°C, maximum temperature ≥200°C |
Testing methods and steps analysis
The test process specified in the standard is divided into the following key steps:
- Sample preparation: Select 3 products of the same type as test samples.
- Water immersion: Soak the sample in 20°C water for 1 hour, then wipe it dry with a cloth.
- Freezing: Place the sample in a -8°C freezer for 16 hours.
- Microwave oven test: After taking the sample out of the freezer, place it in the center of the microwave turntable for 45 seconds, with a heating energy of 72000J, and the time is accurate to seconds. If an arc occurs, the test is terminated immediately.
- Oven test: Place the sample in a 200°C oven for 20 minutes within 45 seconds.
- Result analysis: Use 1% methylene blue solution to stain and check whether the sample is cracked or damaged.
Comparison of standard frameworks and implementation suggestions
In order to better understand the applicability of GB/T 34253-2017, we can compare and analyze it with other relevant standards:
| Standard dimensions | GB/T 34253-2017 | ISO related standards | ASTM standards |
|---|---|---|---|
| Test environment | Refrigerator→Microwave oven→Oven | Laboratory constant temperature environment | High temperature and low temperature cycle test |
| Test indicators | Arc generation and damage | Material strength change | Thermal shock stability |
Practical application case analysis
A ceramic company tested a batch of daily-use ceramics according to the GB/T 34253-2017 standard. The results showed that some samples had arcing during microwave heating, indicating that their high-temperature resistance was insufficient. By improving the glaze formula and increasing the thickness of the ceramic, subsequent products passed all tests.
