GB/T 34253—2017 "Test Method for Adaptability of Daily-use Ceramics from Refrigerator to Microwave and Oven" specifies the test method for adaptability of daily-use ceramics to be directly placed in microwave ovens and ovens for heating after being frozen. This standard aims to evaluate the performance of ceramics under extreme temperature changes and ensure their safety in home use.

Background of Standard Formulation and Analysis of Technical Evolution

With the popularity of modern kitchen appliances, daily-use ceramics often need to come into contact with refrigerators, microwave ovens and ovens in daily use. In order to ensure the safety and durability of ceramics in these environments, the China Light Industry Federation proposed this standard. Its technical requirements are based on common problems in actual applications and refer to relevant testing methods at home and abroad.

Testing methods and steps analysis

The test process specified in the standard is divided into the following key steps:

  1. Sample preparation: Select 3 products of the same type as test samples.
  2. Water immersion: Soak the sample in 20°C water for 1 hour, then wipe it dry with a cloth.
  3. Freezing: Place the sample in a -8°C freezer for 16 hours.
  4. Microwave oven test: After taking the sample out of the freezer, place it in the center of the microwave turntable for 45 seconds, with a heating energy of 72000J, and the time is accurate to seconds. If an arc occurs, the test is terminated immediately.
  5. Oven test: Place the sample in a 200°C oven for 20 minutes within 45 seconds.
  6. Result analysis: Use 1% methylene blue solution to stain and check whether the sample is cracked or damaged.
