Introduction

Standard Overview

GB/T 34599-2017 "Ramp Control System Setting Requirements" specifies the planning, design, implementation and management of urban expressway entrance ramp control systems in detail, aiming to optimize traffic flow and improve road traffic efficiency through scientific control strategies.

Key Terms and Definitions

TermsDefinition
Expressway Entrance RampA dedicated road for vehicles to enter the main line of an expressway.
Ramp ControlControl traffic flow through signals, including closure and regulation.
Dynamic Ramp RegulationControl strategy for adjusting traffic flow based on real-time data.

Control Strategy Analysis

1. Ramp Closure and Adjustment Conditions

Based on the traffic status (unblocked, basically unblocked, lightly congested, severely congested), the system will take corresponding control measures. In the case of severe congestion, the system will activate the ramp closure function to ensure the safety of the main line.

2. Dynamic Adjustment Algorithm

Using the demand capacity difference model and real-time data collection technology, the adjustment rate is dynamically adjusted to adapt to traffic changes. For example, the ALINEA algorithm is used to optimize signal timing during peak hours.

System Architecture and Functions

System Composition

  • Ramp Controller
  • Signal Display Equipment
  • Traffic Data Collection Facilities
  • Central Control System

Functional Requirements

The system needs to have real-time data analysis, state judgment, control command generation and transmission functions to ensure that all devices work together. For example, the central control system selects the optimal control strategy by analyzing traffic parameters and sends the command to the field equipment.

Requirements for equipment and facility layout

EquipmentTechnical requirements
Signal lightsThe installation location complies with GB14886 to ensure visibility and safety.
Traffic detectorsEquipped with high-precision detection functions and support real-time data transmission.

Requirements for central control system

  • Communication requirements: Optical fiber transmission is preferred, and wireless technology is used when necessary.
  • Performance indicators: The instruction transmission delay is not more than 3 seconds, and the system MTBF is not less than 3000 hours.

Implementation Suggestions

  1. Rationally configure equipment and facilities according to urban traffic needs.
  2. Regularly maintain field equipment to ensure its normal operation.
  3. Optimize control strategies based on actual traffic data.
