This standard combines advanced detection technologies at home and abroad, covering three classic methods: dimedone turbidimetry, chromotropic acid colorimetry and basic fuchsin-sulfite colorimetry, ensuring the accuracy and repeatability of the test results.

Method principle and operation flow

Dimethedone turbidimetric method: Aldehydes react with dimethedone to form insoluble colorless condensation products. When the aldehyde content is low, the condensation product is suspended and makes the solution turbid, which is determined by visual turbidimetry.

Chromotropic acid colorimetric method: In sulfuric acid medium, aldehydes react with chromotropic acid to form purple compounds, which can be determined by spectrophotometry or visual colorimetry.

Operational Specifications

  • Prepare reagents and test solutions in strict accordance with standard requirements to ensure that the experimental water meets the specifications of Grade 3 water in GB/T6682.
  • Select appropriate instruments and equipment according to the requirements of different detection methods. For example, the spectrophotometer should comply with the provisions of GB/T9721.
