Key technical specifications
Graded application system
The standard divides weathertight doors into 4 levels according to their installation position:
- Class A: front end wall of the first superstructure on the freeboard deck
- Class B: front end wall of the second layer and side/rear end wall of the first layer
- Class C/D: higher-rise buildings and special locations
New rib structure
The 2023 version adds P-type (M-shaped) and S-type (rectangular) rib structures:

Implementation points
Typical application scenarios
A 170,000-ton bulk carrier uses BLY1400×750-8 type door:
- The sealing performance is verified by the 0.2MPa flushing test
- Reinforcement ribs are made of 75×9mm angle steel
- Rust removal standard of Sa2.5 is implemented
Inspection and certification requirements
Type inspection must include:
- Dimensional tolerance ≤±2mm
- Twist ≤2mm/m
- 3-minute water flushing test for AC-level doors
- Water spraying test for D-level doors
