Introduction

1. Standard Overview

National Standard of the People's Republic of China GB/T 35360—2017 specifies the terms and definitions of automotive steering systems and is applicable to automotive steering systems. This standard is proposed by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and is managed by the National Technical Committee for Automotive Standardization.

2. Classification Terms and Definitions

Classification Subclassification Definition
Mechanical Steering System (MS) A steering system that is completely operated by the driver's hand. See Figure 1: The mechanical steering gear consists of a steering control mechanism and a rocker arm shaft.
Power-assisted steering system (HPS) Hydraulic power-assisted steering system A steering system that uses hydraulic power to operate, divided into integral type and semi-integral type (see Figure 2).
Electro-hydraulic power-assisted steering system (EHPS) Electro-controlled hydraulic power-assisted steering system A steering system that changes the steering hand force through an electronically controlled valve (see Figure 3).

3. Main technical parameter terms and definitions

The following are the definitions and application examples of key terms:

  • Steering system angle ratio: The ratio of the steering wheel angle increment to the steering wheel angle increment on the same side.
  • Steering gear efficiency: The ratio of output power to input power, divided into positive efficiency and negative efficiency.

4. Comparison of standard frameworks

Standard dimensions GB/T 35360—2017 International standard comparison
Classification method Mechanical, power-assisted, electro-hydraulic Susan: The electronic control unit (ECU) adjusts the power-assisted characteristics through the vehicle speed signal.
Transmission efficiency calculation Positive efficiency and negative efficiency Marks: Dynamic test method is used to evaluate steering gear efficiency.

5. Implementation Suggestions

To ensure the effective implementation of the standard, it is recommended that:

  1. Manufacturers should establish a complete testing system to ensure that all parameters meet the specified requirements.
  2. Fully consider the characteristics of road feeling in product design to enhance the driving experience.
  3. Strengthen employee training to improve the understanding and application of standard clauses.
