Introduction

Standard Framework and Technology Evolution

As an important specification in the field of aviation emergency equipment, this standard was first published in 2018 and was drafted by Hangyu Lifesaving Equipment Co., Ltd. and China Aviation Comprehensive Technology Research Institute. Compared with the international standard CTSO-C70a, it adds special requirements for Type II life rafts and strengthens the indicators of adaptability to special environments such as humidity, heat, and mold.

Technical DimensionsType I LiferaftType II Liferaft
Applicable ScenariosAll Aviation OperationsNon-Extended Cross-Water Flight

Analysis of Key Performance Indicators

5.1.3 Inflation performance

Under an environment of 21±3℃, the life raft must meet the following requirements:

  • Complete its deployment within 1 minute
  • Reach the minimum working pressure within 2 minutes

Typical case: In a -30℃ low temperature test, the main buoyancy structure of a certain type of inflatable life raft can still be formed within 1 minute, which meets the requirements of Clause 5.2.1.

5.1.17 Stability performance

Through three-stage verification:

  1. 95th percentile male single-person raft anti-capsulation
  2. Two-person assisted unconscious person rafting test
  3. 10-minute anti-capsulation under real sea conditions

Material and environmental adaptability

Clause 5.5.4 stipulates that the buoy material must pass a 50-day wet heat aging test (57.8℃/95%RH) with a strength retention rate of ≥80%. In actual applications, it was found that the seam strength reduction rate of polyurethane coated fabrics after salt spray testing was controlled within 7%, which is better than the 10% upper limit required by the standard.

Test itemsTest conditionsQualification criteria
Temperature exposure-30℃/70℃ for 16h eachNo structural damage
Salt spray test96 hoursNo visible rust on metal parts
Mold test28 daysMold growth level ≤Level 2

Implementation suggestions

Production quality control

  • It is recommended to use high-frequency heat sealing technology for the seam process to ensure 1.5 times the maximum working pressure required by 5.1.1 pressure resistance performance
  • The UPF coefficient test of the raft canopy shall be carried out in accordance with GB/T 18830, and it is recommended to add ultraviolet absorber

Inspection points

Clause 7.4.3 requires that the identification and inspection be carried out on three groups of samples:

  1. Basic performance group (size/appearance/connection strength)
  2. Environmental test group (temperature/salt spray/vibration)
  3. Destructive test group (drop/buoyancy/sea anchor)
