GB/T 36792—2018 Standard Overview

GB/T 36792—2018 "Brominated Polycarbonate Flame Retardant Chemicals" is the first national standard formulated by China for brominated polycarbonate flame retardants, aiming to standardize its technical requirements, test methods and quality control. This standard is managed by the National Technical Committee for Chemical Standardization and is applicable to brominated polycarbonates made from tetrabromobisphenol A and tribromophenol as raw materials.

Background of Standard Formulation

With the growth of market demand for flame retardants, brominated polycarbonates have attracted widespread attention due to their excellent flame retardant properties and environmental protection characteristics. However, the quality of products on the market is uneven and there is a lack of unified technical standards. The formulation of this standard fills this gap and provides a normative basis for the production and application of brominated polycarbonates.

  • Determination of bromine content: The bromide ion is titrated with silver nitrate standard titration solution by potentiometric titration after alkali fusion.
  • Melting point determination: Test in accordance with GB/T 617 to ensure that the temperature of the sample at the initial melting point meets the requirements.
  • Chroma determination: Prepare a 10% concentration of dichloromethane solution and determine the Hazen value by visual colorimetry.
