Introduction
National Standard of the People's Republic of China GB/T 36813—2018
Quarantine and Identification Methods of White-striped Longicorn Beetle (Non-Chinese Species)
1. Scope
This standard specifies the quarantine and identification methods of Chinese and non-Chinese species of the genus White-striped Longicorn Beetle, and is applicable to the quarantine and identification of insects of the genus White-striped Longicorn Beetle carried in inbound and outbound timber, boards and wooden packaging.
2. Terms and Definitions
| Terms | Definition |
|---|---|
| Lateral Spines of the Pronotum | The middle part of the pronotum has a protruding narrow tip, usually in the form of a thorn. |
| Menothorax anterior lateral plate | Menothorax anterior lateral plate. |
| Pronothorax fold | The fold-like area at the rear edge of the dorsal plate of the longhorn beetle larvae, on which there are often several rows of particles of different sizes. |
3. Basic information of the genus Batocera Dejean
The genus Batocera Dejean belongs to the order Coleoptera, family Cerambycidae, subfamily Lamiinae, tribe Batocerini.
There are 55 species recorded and named worldwide, and 11 species have been recorded in my country. The main difference from other closely related genera such as Apriona Chevrolat is that the antennal segments often have dense short hairs or rough spines on the lower side.
4. Principle of the method
According to the damage of the white-striped longhorn beetle, observe the bark logs and branches of imported broad-leaved trees at the quarantine site, obtain adult insect samples, and when larvae are found, take them back together with the wood for breeding. After the larvae have emerged into adults, make pin specimens, observe them under a microscope, and determine the species based on morphological characteristics.
5. Laboratory Identification
| Identification Characteristics | Apriona chevrolat (non-Chinese species) | Apriona chevrolat |
|---|---|---|
| Antennules | Antennules often have dense short hairs or rough spines on the underside | Antennules are smooth, often with light-colored hairs at the base |
| Pronotum | With spines on both sides | No obvious spines |
| Larvae morphology | The abdominal vesicles have rows of tubercles | The abdominal vesicles have no tubercles |
6. Implementation suggestions
Quarantine personnel:Strictly follow the standard operating procedures for on-site inspections and laboratory identification to ensure accurate identification of non-Chinese species of the genus Litopelta.
Enterprises:When importing and exporting wood and wood products, they must cooperate with inspection and quarantine work, provide relevant quarantine certification materials, and prevent the invasion of foreign pests.
Scientific research institutions:It is recommended to further study the molecular biological characteristics of the genus Litopelta and develop faster and more accurate identification methods.
