Introduction

1. Background and significance of standard formulation

GB/T 36876-2018 "Hygiene requirements for lighting design and installation of ordinary classrooms in primary and secondary schools" aims to protect the eye health of primary and secondary school students, standardize the classroom lighting environment, and ensure the smooth progress of teaching activities. This standard is proposed and managed by the National Health Commission of the People's Republic of China, which fully reflects the government's high attention to the protection of young people's eyesight.

2. Interpretation of the main contents of the standard

4.1 The average illuminance of the classroom desktop is not less than 300 lx: to ensure that students can read clearly in class and reduce eye fatigue. At the same time, the uniformity of illumination is required to be not less than 0.7 to avoid visual discomfort caused by uneven brightness.

3. Analysis of Standard Technology Evolution

Specification Dimensions Old Standard GB/T 17743 New Standard GB/T 36876
Color Rendering Index (CRI) Requirements ≥70 ≥80
Uniform Glare Value (UGR) Limits ≤22 ≤19
Luminaire Efficiency Requirements ≥50% ≥60%

4. Implementation suggestions and precautions

Case study: Classroom lighting renovation in a middle school in Beijing

According to the requirements of GB/T 36876-2018, the school replaced all traditional fluorescent lamps with high-efficiency LED lamps, and the color rendering index was increased to 90, and the uniform glare value was controlled below 18. At the same time, the layout of lamps was optimized to ensure that the illumination uniformity reached above 0.7.

Through the renovation, students reported that their visual comfort was significantly improved and their eyestrain was reduced. The school has achieved significant energy-saving effects, saving more than 30% of electricity bills annually.
