Introduction
1. Standard Overview
GB/T 36975—2018 "General Technical Requirements for Footwear" is the basic standard of the Chinese footwear industry, regulating all aspects of footwear products from raw materials to finished products. This standard applies to general wear footwear, but does not include safety, protective and competitive sports shoes.
2. Comparison of standard frameworks
| Dimensions | GB/T 36975—2018 | Comparison with international standards |
|---|---|---|
| Term definitions | Adopt the terminology system of GB/T 2703 | Consistent with ISO standard terminology |
| Classification standards | Men's shoes, women's shoes, children's shoes and infant shoes | Covering major global market classifications |
| Limited substance requirements | Degradable harmful aromatic amine dyes ≤30 mg/kg, formaldehyde content graded management | Comply with EU REACH regulations |
3. Interpretation of the core content of the standard
3.1 Requirements for limited substances
Degradable harmful aromatic amine dyes: Table 1 specifies the limit indicators for textiles and leather and fur to ensure that footwear products do not contain carcinogenic risk substances. Appendix A lists 24 harmful aromatic amine dyes in detail.
Case analysis: formaldehyde content detection
A brand of children's shoes was found to have excessive formaldehyde in a random inspection. According to GB/T 2912.1 and GB/T 19941, the formaldehyde content of materials that directly contact the feet should not exceed 75 mg/kg. This case highlights the importance of standard implementation.
3.2 Physical and mechanical performance requirements
Upper and sole peeling strength: ≥25 N/cm for slippers, ≥40 N/cm for other shoes. This indicator ensures the structural stability of footwear products during normal use.
4. Implementation suggestions
- Enterprise level: Establish an internal quality control system and equip with testing equipment that complies with the GB/T 3903 series (such as tensile testing machine, wear tester, etc.).
- Testing agency: Carry out testing work in strict accordance with standard requirements to ensure data accuracy.
- Regulatory authorities: Strengthen market supervision, regularly spot check key enterprises, and severely investigate and punish unqualified products.
