Introduction
GB/T 37214—2018 Standard Overview
National Standard of the People's Republic of China GB/T 37214—2018 "General Technical Requirements for Ceramic External Wall Tiles" is an important specification for the building ceramics industry and is applicable to ceramic tiles used for protection and decoration of outdoor walls of buildings. The standard comprehensively regulates ceramic external wall tiles from multiple dimensions, including term definitions, classification, technical requirements, test methods, and inspection rules.
Standard Framework Comparison
| Standard Dimensions | Technical Requirements | Test Methods | Inspection Rules |
|---|---|---|---|
| Surface Quality | At least 95% of the tiles shall be free of obvious defects, and slight color differences and decorative spots are allowed. | Surface inspection is carried out according to GB/T 3810.2. | Both factory inspection and type inspection require surface quality inspection. |
| Dimensional tolerance | According to the type of brick, it is divided into two categories: fine and ordinary, with deviation ranges of ±1.0% and ±2.0% respectively. | Dimension measurement is carried out according to GB/T 3810.2, and the back pattern is measured with a vernier caliper with an accuracy of 0.02mm. | Dimensional tolerance is a mandatory inspection item for factory inspection. |
| Water absorption | It is divided into three categories: porcelain bricks, ze porcelain bricks and fine bricks, with water absorption rates not exceeding 0.5%, 3% and 6% respectively. | Measure water absorption according to GB/T 3810.3. | Water absorption is a mandatory item for type inspection. |
Interpretation of technical requirements
Physical properties:The destructive strength and rupture modulus of ceramic exterior wall tiles vary according to thickness, and dry pressed bricks have higher requirements. For example, the destructive strength of bricks with a thickness of ≥7.5mm must be ≥700mm.
Chemical properties:Pollution resistance and chemical corrosion resistance are important indicators for measuring exterior wall tiles. Glazed bricks and unglazed bricks have different technical requirements, please refer to GB/T 3810.13-2016 standard for details.
Radioactive nuclide limit:Must meet the requirements of GB 6566 to ensure that the product is harmless to the human body.
Implementation recommendations
To ensure the quality and safe use of ceramic exterior wall tiles, it is recommended that manufacturers take the following measures:
- Strictly follow the standards for raw material procurement and production process control.
- Establish a complete quality inspection system and equip professional testing equipment.
- Strengthen employee training to ensure that technical personnel are familiar with the standard requirements.
- Periodically conduct type inspections, especially when there are major changes in the production process.
