1. Background and purpose of the standard
The National Standard of the People's Republic of China GB/T 37906-2019 "Determination of mercury in recycled water quality - mercury instrument method" is to standardize the determination method of mercury content in recycled water and ensure the accuracy and reliability of the test results. This standard is applicable to the determination of mercury content in recycled water, surface water and wastewater, with a determination range of $0.1~\mu\mathrm{g}/\mathrm{L}{\sim}100~\mu\mathrm{g}/\mathrm{L}$.

3. Determination method and technical analysis
This standard adopts the catalytic pyrolysis cold atomic absorption mercury analyzer method. After the sample is dried and thermally decomposed, the gaseous product is transported to the catalytic furnace by oxygen, halogens, nitrogen oxides and sulfur oxides are captured, and the remaining products are brought into the gold amalgam adsorption device. After sufficient heating, mercury vapor is released, and oxygen brings the mercury vapor into the absorption cell, and the absorbance of mercury is measured at a wavelength of $253.7\mathrm{nm}$.
4. Implementation suggestions
Instrument selection:It is recommended to use a mercury analyzer that meets the requirements of the standard, and ensure that it is equipped with a thermal decomposition furnace, a catalytic furnace, a cold atomic absorption spectrometer and a data processing system.
Sample collection and storage:Water quality samples should be collected and stored in accordance with the provisions of GB/T5750.2 to ensure that no mercury loss or interference occurs during the transportation and storage of the samples.
Test condition optimization: Debug the best test conditions according to the instrument manual and set the parameters according to Table 1. For example, the drying temperature is recommended to be set to $200℃$ and the decomposition temperature to be set to $700℃$.
