1. Background and significance of the standard

GB/T 38394-2019 "Determination of sodium, calcium, magnesium and iron content in coal tar - Inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry" is a standard proposed by the China Iron and Steel Association and managed by the National Coal Chemical Industry Standardization Technical Committee. This standard specifies the method of using inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometer (ICP-OES) to determine the content of sodium, calcium, magnesium and iron in coal tar, and is applicable to medium and low temperature coal tar and high temperature coal tar with a water content of less than 0.5%.
