Introduction
1. Background and significance of the standard
Particle dispersion systems play an important role in industrial production, and their stability is directly related to product quality and shelf life. GB/T 38431-2019 fills the gap in the domestic evaluation method for the stability of dispersion systems and provides a set of scientific and unified test specifications for various industries.
2. Measurement principles and technical indicators
Particle Dispersion System Stability Analyzer uses static multiple light scattering (SMLS) technology to evaluate the instability index (I_US) of the dispersion system by measuring the transmitted light intensity (TI) and the backscattered light intensity (BSI). This method does not require sample dilution and is suitable for dispersion systems with a particle size range of 50 nm to 1 mm and a volume fraction between 0.01% and 60%.

4. Implementation suggestions
Case study: emulsion stability test
Take milk sample as an example, the Turbiscan MA 1000 device is used for testing. By measuring the change of backscattered light intensity (BSI) over time, the floating phenomenon of fat particles is found. According to formula (5) and formula (6), the instability index I_US is calculated to be 0.14 and 0.24 respectively, which verifies the unstable trend of the emulsion during the static process.
Data processing method
According to the theoretical formulas in Appendix A and Appendix B, combined with actual measurement data, the average particle size, concentration change and migration speed can be calculated. It is recommended to use professional software for data analysis to ensure the accuracy of the results.
