Introduction

Interpretation of the core content of the standard

This standard specifies the technical specifications for the surface insulation coating of cold-rolled electrical steel strip (sheet), focusing on solving the eddy current loss problem caused by short circuit between core laminations. The coating system is divided into 7 categories and 12 categories according to the inorganic/organic components, including:

Analysis of key technical indicators

9 core tests required by the standard:

  1. Insulation resistance test: Distinguish surface resistance (Ω·mm²/surface) and interlayer resistance (Ω·mm²/piece) according to GB/T 2522
  2. Heat resistance: DJ-5-N can withstand 800℃ annealing, DJ-3 series is limited to working conditions below 180℃
  3. Salt spray test: Verify the corrosion resistance of the coating through GB/T 10125

Case: A motor factory selected DJ-3-2 coated steel strip is used to make the iron core. After punching, it is subjected to the pressure-maintaining and curing process, which increases the shear strength between the laminations by 40% and reduces the electromagnetic noise by 15dB.


Implementation suggestions

  • Selection basis: Refer to Appendix A and the ASTM/IEC standard comparison table. Export products are recommended to meet the requirements of C-5 level (ASTM A976) at the same time
  • Storage management: The storage period of B-state coating (such as DJ-3-2) is ≤6 months, and the temperature and humidity need to be controlled
  • Process adaptation: Decomposition gas emissions need to be considered during welding of coatings containing organic components (DJ-3/DJ-6)
