Introduction

Analysis of the core content of the standard

Core elements Technical requirements Safety threshold
Temperature measurement accuracy ≥0.1℃ ±0.1℃ deviation
Test temperature range -20~220℃ Automatic power off when exceeding the limit
Heat loss control <10mW Error≤30%

Definition of key terms

Self-Accelerating Decomposition Temperature (SADT): The lowest ambient temperature at which a substance may undergo self-accelerating decomposition in a transport container, measured by the Dewar flask test.

Application case: A chemical company measured the SADT of peroxide to be 55°C, and based on this, set the transport ambient temperature to no more than 50°C.

Test equipment specifications

  • Glass Dewar flask: 1.0L/1.5L volume, equipped with inert cover
  • Insulated oven: temperature control accuracy ±0.1℃
  • Safety device: dual redundant temperature monitoring + emergency power off

Implementation suggestions

  1. Analytical grade sodium chloride and other standard substances must be used during the calibration phase
  2. Self-heating detection adopts the 5℃ step temperature rise method
  3. The sample must be destroyed immediately after the test

Technology evolution analysis

Compared with the earlier version, the 2020 version has the following major improvements:
1. Added heat loss rate calculation for intermediate bulk containers
2. Clarify cooling system response threshold
3. Refine sample data in Appendix C/D
