This standard is equivalent to ISO 20056-1:2017, which specifies the calculation method for the rated dynamic load of hybrid bearings that combine silicon nitride ceramic rolling elements with bearing steel rings.

Rated load formula for ball bearings

When ball diameter Dw≤25.4mm:
Cr = bm × fc × (i×cosα)0.7 × Z2/3 × Dw1.8

Influence of material properties

The high elastic modulus of silicon nitride (Si3N4) causes a change in the contact stress distribution, and the reduction in theoretical load capacity is compensated by increasing the bm coefficient.


Implementation recommendations

  1. The radius of curvature of the groove should be controlled within the standard recommended value range (ball bearing ≤0.52Dw)
  2. The fatigue load limit calculation needs to take into account the characteristics of ceramic materials, which is about 15-27% lower than that of steel bearings
  3. Thrust bearings need to additionally apply the reduction factor η
