Key technical requirements
Sample preparation specifications: The coating thickness must be >30μm, the thickness ratio must be ≥1:100, and the recommended size is 36×4×2mm. The thickness deviation measured using an optical microscope (200x+) must be <0.5μm.
Equipment accuracy: The load accuracy of the testing machine is 1%+, the deflection measurement resolution is 0.001mm, and the vernier caliper resolution is 0.02mm.
Implementation points
Case: When the alumina coating (150μm) is tested on a 304 stainless steel substrate, the substrate deflection δ₁=0.12mm must be measured first, and the composite deflection δ₂=0.08mm after coating. The modulus ratio α=2.35 is calculated by the formula in Table 1, and the final coating elastic modulus Ec=420GPa is obtained.
Technology Evolution Analysis
This standard innovatively proposes the deflection ratio method to solve the problem that traditional methods cannot measure the coating modulus alone. By comparing the deflection changes before and after coating, accurate calculations are achieved in combination with three-dimensional structural parameters. Compared with the ISO 17162 standard, the calculation formula for the four-sided coating structure is added.
Solutions to Common Problems
Uneven coating: When the thickness deviation is greater than 5%, re-sampling is required. It is recommended to use processes such as magnetron sputtering to improve uniformity.
Critical load determination: It is recommended to use a acoustic emission instrument with a metal substrate to capture the initial crack signal of the coating.
