Introduction

Interpretation of the core content of the standard

This standard is equivalent to the ISO17257:2020 international standard, which specifies the method of identifying rubber polymers by pyrolysis gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. It is applicable to the single or combined system analysis of raw rubber, vulcanized rubber and unvulcanized rubber, with a detection limit of 10% of the component content.

Technical Principles and Equipment Requirements

System Components Technical Requirements Typical Parameters
Pyrolysis System Platinum Wire/Curie Point/Micro Furnace Pyrolyzer 400-800℃ (600℃ recommended)
Chromatographic Column Non-polar/polar capillary column 30m×0.32mm, 1μm film thickness
Mass Spectrometer Detector EI Ion Source Scanning Range 29-500m/z

Rubber classification and identification characteristics

Typical polymer characteristic compounds

  • Natural rubber (NR): Isoprene (CAS78-79-5) and limonene isomers
  • Nitrile rubber (NBR): Acrylonitrile (CAS107-13-1) + butadiene characteristic peaks
  • Silicone rubber (PVMQ): Cyclosiloxane series + benzene characteristic peaks

Note: Polymer groups such as EPDM and EPM, NR and IR need to be determined in combination with multiple characteristic peaks

Key points for implementation of the standard

  1. Sample pretreatment needs to be carried out according to ISO1407 for solvent extraction
  2. Pyrolysis temperature stability control ≤±5℃
  3. The mass spectrometry library must include a database of rubber characteristic compounds
  4. Pay attention to copolymer interference when analyzing combined rubbers

Technology evolution analysis

This standard has major improvements over the previous version: Added identification method for fluororubber (FKM), improved the detection instructions for combined rubbers, and supplemented safety regulations such as warnings. The detection sensitivity is increased by 30% through mass spectrometry characteristic ion screening technology.
