本标准代替GB/T 4054-1983《涂料涂覆标记》。
本标准规定了金属、非金属制品表面涂料涂覆标记的方法。
本标准适用于金属、非金属制品表面涂料涂覆的标记。
本标准与GB/T 4054-1983相比主要有如下技术差异：
―――标准的结构根据GB/T 1.1-2000要求做了大的调整；
―――第7章例4、例5中前处理的标记方法根据标准GB/T 13911-1992做了相应的修改。
