Introduction

1. Background and significance of the standard

GB/T42259-2022 "Test method for thermal cycle and thermal shock resistance of thermal barrier coatings of metals and other inorganic covering layers" is the first standard formulated in my country on the durability test of thermal barrier coatings. It is mainly applicable to coating systems serving in high temperature environments such as gas turbines and aircraft engines.

3. Recommendations for standard implementation

3.1 Recommendations for test equipment selection

  • High temperature electric furnace: It is recommended to use German Lindsay or Japanese Hitachi brands to meet the 1600℃ temperature control requirement
  • Rapid cooling system: It is recommended to configure a closed-loop water cooling device
  • Thermocouple temperature meter: Accuracy ±0.5℃, response time less than 1 second

3.2 Precautions for sample preparation

  • The sample surface should be free of obvious scratches and oxide scale
  • It is recommended to use plasma spraying or high velocity oxygen fuel (HVOF) process to prepare the coating
  • Ensure that the substrate material is a nickel-based high-temperature alloy, such as GH4169 or Rene80

3.3 Data Analysis and Report Writing

It is recommended to use professional software such as OriginLab for data fitting and visualization to ensure that the test results meet the accuracy requirements specified in GB/T42259-2022.
