1. Background and significance of standard formulation
GB/T42266-2022/ISO3582:2000 was formulated to unify the horizontal combustion characteristics evaluation method of flexible porous polymer materials under small flames. This standard is equivalent to the international standard ISO3582:2000, and has been adaptively adjusted in combination with China's actual situation, adding terms and definitions, etc., and is applicable to specimens with a thickness greater than 5mm.

Combustion chamber: Consists of a steel frame and heat insulation board, with dimensions of 600mm×300mm×760mm, equipped with a movable sealed observation window. There must be no convection wind in the combustion chamber to ensure that the hot circulating air passes through the sample normally.

A company used this standard to test a flexible foam material with a thickness of 10mm, and recorded the following key data: average burning speed is 50mm/s, average extinguishing time is 30s, and average burning length is 60mm. Through analysis, it is found that the combustion characteristics of this material under a small flame are relatively stable, and it is suitable for use in low fire risk environments.
