Introduction

1. Background of Standard Revision and Technological Evolution

GB/T 4840-2016 is the latest standard for Nitroanilines, replacing the previous GB/T 4840-2007. The new version has made many improvements in technical requirements and safety specifications. The main changes include:

  • Added CA SRN number (see Chapter 1);
  • Modified the purity index of p-nitroaniline dry product and the purity index of o-nitroaniline superior product, and added the purity index of m-nitroaniline (see Chapter 3);
  • Added safety information and clarified the labeling, packaging and storage requirements of hazardous chemicals (see Chapter 4, Sections 8.2, 8.3, and 8.5).

3. Safety regulations and protection suggestions

Nitroaniline compounds belong to Class 6.1 toxic substances, and the United Nations number is UN 1661. The permissible concentration in the air is 5 mg/m³.

  • Operators need to wear protective equipment, including gloves, masks and goggles;
  • Store in a cool and ventilated place, away from fire and oxidants;
  • Ensure that the packaging is intact during transportation and avoid exposure to sunlight and rain.

4. Implementation suggestions and precautions

In order to ensure compliance with the GB/T 4840-2016 standard, it is recommended that:

  1. Sampling and testing:Sampling should be carried out in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 6678-2003 to ensure sample representativeness.
  2. Test method:Use gas chromatography (see Section 6.5) and Karl Fischer method (see Section 6.6) to determine purity and moisture.
  3. Packaging and labeling:Strictly follow the requirements of GB 190 and GB/T 191 on the marking of dangerous goods.
  4. Safety Data Sheet: Provide detailed safety information according to GB/T 16483, including emergency response measures.
