3 Terms and definitions

For the purposes of this part, the following terms and definitions apply.

3.1
minimum deviation angle
minimum included angle between the incident light ray and the emergent light ray if the incidence angle is equal to the emergence angle where the light ray deviates when passing through the refracting prism, expressed by δ

3.2
temperature coefficient of refractive index
β
change rate of the refractive index of material with respect to temperature while other conditions are kept unchanged, which is classified into absolute temperature coefficient of refractive index and relative temperature coefficient of refractive index, expressed by βabs and βrel respectively
