1. Standard background and technological evolution
GB/T 8574-2024 "Determination of potassium content in compound fertilizers" is the third revision of the original standard GB/T 8574-2010, which mainly optimizes and supplements the determination method. The new standard introduces ultrasonic extraction and inductively coupled plasma emission spectrometry (ICP), while retaining the classic potassium tetraphenylborate gravimetric method as the arbitration method.

3. Interpretation and application of standards
3.1 Potassium tetraphenylborate gravimetric method (arbitration method)
Principle:Sodium tetraphenylborate and potassium ions generate precipitation, and the potassium oxide content is calculated by weighing. Applicable to samples containing cyanamide or organic matter.
Steps:
- Sample treatment: heating and boiling or ultrasonic extraction
- Precipitation generation and filtration: adding sodium tetraphenylborate solution, standing and filtering
- Drying and weighing: drying and weighing in a crucible
3.2 Inductively coupled plasma emission spectrometry (ICP)
Advantages:High sensitivity and high accuracy, especially suitable for the determination of low potassium content.
Steps:
- Standard curve drawing: prepare potassium standard solutions of different concentrations
- Sample determination: measure emission intensity after dilution and calculate concentration
4. Implementation suggestions
Laboratory selection:Choose the appropriate method according to the characteristics of the sample, and arbitration method is preferred for dispute resolution.
Equipment configuration:Equipped with ICP spectrometer and ultrasonic cleaning instrument to ensure that the experimental conditions meet the requirements.
