Introduction
Standard Revision Background and Technology Evolution
GB/T8601-2021, as an important standard in the field of railway rolled steel wheels, replaces the 1988 version of the standard that has been implemented for 33 years. This revision reflects the rapid development of China's rail transit equipment technology, mainly responding to the new requirements for wheel performance of high-speed trains (250km/h) and heavy-duty trucks (axle weight 33t).

6.3 Mechanical performance requirements
Taking CL70 steel as an example, the performance requirements of its rim are as follows:
- Tensile strength ≥1050MPa
- Surface hardness ≥321HBW
- -20℃ impact energy ≥13J
Compared with CL50 steel, the strength is increased by about 28%, which is suitable for higher axle load conditions.
Implementation suggestions
- Material selection: CL70 is preferred for level 1 wheels, and CL50 is optional for level 3
- Process control: Focus on non-metallic inclusions ≤ level 1.5 in Article 6.5
- Detection points: Ultrasonic flaw detection adopts the φ1.0mm flat-bottom hole standard (Article 6.7)
