Scope
This part of GB/T 8870 puts forward requirements and suggestions for the data format of the point position, linear motion and contour control system used in the numerical control of machine tools, which is helpful for coordinating the system design and minimizing the types of programs required by the part processing drawing. In this way, the unification of programming technology is promoted, and the input program is interchangeable among CNC machine tools of the same classification such as model, processing technology, function, size and precision. It is hoped that a simple format will be used for the programming of purely numerically controlled machines, and only a step-by-step extension of the system for more complex machines. This section does not apply to the numerical control of flame cutting machines and plotters dedicated to the shipbuilding industry. Their associated format ("ESSI format") is specified in ISO 6852.
