Key Technical Terms

Selenium Bio-Nutrition Fortification Technology: The core technology of increasing the selenium content in the edible part of potatoes through the natural growth and transformation of potatoes by applying selenium-containing conditioning agents. Practice has shown that foliar spraying of selenium fertilizer can increase the conversion rate of selenoamino acids by more than 30%.


Background of Standard Formulation

This standard responds to the requirements of WS/T 578.3 on dietary intake of selenium and is formulated based on sample data of selenium-rich potatoes from 12 major production areas across the country. The selenoamino acid ratio indicator was added in the 2020 revision, strengthening the nutritional evaluation dimension.


Implementation suggestions

1. Planting stage: Give priority to natural selenium-rich soil, and use special fertilizers containing selenomethionine

2. Detection and control: Total selenium and form detection are required before harvesting, and it is recommended to use HPLC-ICP-MS combined equipment

3. Label management: Clearly label the selenium content and form ratio according to GB/T 32950
