Introduction

Analysis of the core content of the standard

As the industry standard for architectural terrazzo products, the JC507-93 standard puts forward systematic requirements for the production and application of terrazzo slabs. The standard was first issued in 1993, replacing the ZBQ21001-85 standard of 1985, reflecting the progress of stone processing technology.

Comparison of key technical indicators

Item Superior product First-class product Qualified product
Gloss (unit) ≥45.0 ≥35.0 ≥25.0
Flexural strength (MPa) Average value ≥5.0, single piece ≥4.0
Water absorption (%) ≤8.0

Product classification system

The standard divides terrazzo products into four categories according to the parts of use:

  • Class Q: Terrazzo for walls and columns
  • Class D: Terrazzo for floors and ground
  • Class T: Special-shaped products such as skirting boards and vertical boards
  • Class G: Functional products such as partition boards and window sills

Key points for implementation

1. Raw material control

Appendix B of the standard clearly stipulates that cement should be white cement or ordinary Portland cement as specified in GB2015, and volcanic ash cement is prohibited; stone slag should be made of unweathered natural rock, and the particle size grading directly affects the stone output rate index.

2. Key process requirements

For polished terrazzo products, the standard specifically stipulates that the grinding process must ensure:
- The surface flatness of ground terrazzo (M type) ≤ 0.8mm
- Polished terrazzo (P type) must achieve a mirror gloss effect

Solutions to common problems

Case: Pattern deviation problem
Appendix A of the standard clearly defines pattern deviation as "the phenomenon of deviation of lines between terrazzo pieces when composing a pattern." In actual production, the following can be achieved:
1. Use CNC water jet cutting to ensure dimensional accuracy
2. Install positioning molds to control joint errors
3. Strictly implement the pattern deviation detection method in Article 6.2.3

Analysis of Standard Evolution

Compared with the 1985 version of the standard, the main improvements of JC507-93 include:
- Added polished terrazzo classification and gloss index
- Refined appearance defect judgment standards (such as quantitative requirements for missing edges and corners)
- Introduced new detection items such as stone yield
- Improved packaging, storage and transportation specifications
